Local Knowledge

As the twins venture further into the jungle, ultimately settling down for a bit in the Skyhouse, they are without their Gizmo computer connection. To what extent does "local knowledge" of a place outweigh the wonders of technology (e.g. GPS's), in your view?

The Pygmy's knowledge of the jungle was a vastly superior guide then the gizmo could have been. I also think that certain people are born with instinctive navigation skills and the "twins" demonstrated their instincts by finding entrance into the skyhouse without the directions and also Marty's tracking of the the enemies in the jungle showed a gizmo is not the only way to find someone. People have become too dependent on technological devices when it comes to directions, luckily for Grace and Marty, they have all the skills nessesary to survive the ordeal. Experience and good instincts are a better means for survival in a difficult environment.

I do not think that anything will ever replace common sense and local, personal knowledge. Knowing my way around and having a paper copy of a map is way more dependable (in my opinion) than GPS because even that is wrong know and again. I would rather find out on my own. Sometimes technology can be great and sometimes it can hinder the forward progress. Like when the Gizmo was stolen. Marty was a sitting duck until he took off that tag. Technology in wrong hands can also be a bad thing.
