Trip to the Congo

I think that Wolfe and his team are fairly dependent on technology. They all use cell phones, Marty is always emailing his friend back at school, Wolfe and his partner run the eWolfe company, and if it wasn't for the Gizmo and the cameras Marty would have probably drowned in the lake.

We are now at that point in the novel where the trip to the Congo is planned. To what extent do you think Wolfe and his team (i.e. the twins) are too dependent upon technology?
